Abstract / Summary

Proto-tools considers the role of ther tool within artistic practice, both as a means to create material effect and as a device to progress a way of thinking. Locating the point of energy of the artwork not at the moment of its encounter with an audience, or indeed the market, but rather at the site of production, Proto-tools interrogates the interaction between the artist and the object in production.
