Abstract / Summary

Miller was invited to guest edit this issue (entitled "Feminist Gaps: Ideology and Practice in Higher Education") of a peer-reviewed journal to which she have contributed in the past. The issue explores the growing gaps between ourselves and our students in terms of understandings of feminism.

All of the articles are written by academics researching and teaching in the English subject area. The contributors address the question of feminist gaps from a variety of pedagogical and theoretical perspectives, raising questions around agency; race and technology; class, higher education and the real; and the unstable ground between post-feminism and the third wave.

Her introduction apprehends teaching as ideological work and argues for an open and unashamed acknowledgement of the identity politics of the higher education classroom. Miller's edition of this journal provides a critical framework for scholarly activity that extends and disseminates the work of these researchers on the subject.
