Abstract / Summary: | RANE-Char is a carbon positive artwork, commissioned and funded by Cape Farewell and the Eden Project in response to climate change. This project has four distinct aims: The completion of the artwork happens when members of the public take branded RANE-Char bags to bury the contents near their home address. The site is recorded on a card then returned to the University to be logged on a Google Map. To date RANE-Char has been buried in Australia, Sweden, Denmark, USA, Svalbard and the UK. |

Additional Information: | A sculptural, transport crate for the distribution of RANE-Char has been included in the Cape Farewell exhibition, UNFOLD, which has toured to the following venues:, University of Applied Arts, Vienna; Kings Place Gallery London; University Gallery, Northumbria; Newlyn Gallery, Cornwall; Museum of Contemporary Photography, Columbia College, Chicago; Parsons the New School for Design, New York; Liverpool John Moores University. It has also been featured in the UNFOLD publication (ISBN: 978-3-7091-0220-6), RANE-Char was shortlisted for the COAL Art & Environment Prize in Paris. |
