Abstract / Summary:

This programme is dedicated to exploring the history of Halloween, witchcraft and the ‘dark’ powers of voice, music and text. It features an interview with Dr David Prior (on the sound and material of bells); Judith Hewitt, Manger and co-curater of the Glitter and Gravedust exhibition/conference held at the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, and extracts from Professor Ronald Hutton's keynote delivery at the Glitter and Gravedust Halloween conference hosted by the Museum. The programme takes you on a journey through the history of Halloween, and in the process, incorporates elements of local Cornish history in relation to the Museum itself. The programme is structured through significant tracks from female artists who make ‘dark’ music.
