'A Cinema of Dreams'. An installation for 'Dream City' The Tunis Biennale of Contemporary Art in Public Spaces.

What does the City dream of?

We start from the idea of the Cinema as a collective space of dreams. In the cinema we relive the life of the dreaming self. Anything is possible. Films mimic the fragmented grammar of dreams. Strange juxtapositions lead to new ways of telling stories about ourselves. What we value. What we fear. What we aspire to. What we didn’t know we knew.

In the Medina of Tunis we attempt to capture the liminal place where the body slows down, the mind opens, the imagination awakes, time freezes.

Through film and installation we create a space where memory and hope coexist.
Old and young citizens of the Medina have contributed to this project. The elders reminding us of where we come from so we may not forget. The children, gazing into an imagined future, showing us that, to make anything happen, we have to dream of it first.
