This work exhibits Georgie and Shana’s experimental online collaboration involving the testing of world building methodologies on varied paper types sourced from each
other’s residing countries: Britain and Japan. What are the benefits and experiential qualities of sharing material artistic practices in online spaces? In this playful exchange they seek to explore this question and form a deeper understanding of the potential of
long-distance collaboration. In a little over a week (with some leisure and work time in between), the two artists created and completed 3 workshops. These workshops aimed to use the internet space as friend instead of enemy to the paper artefact.

Media: Mix media including ink, charcoal, watercolour, gouache, pencil and pastel. Paper: Mixed, from Britain: Straw paper from Britain’s oldest paper mill, Botantical art paper and Bockingford paper from St Cuthburt’s Mill, and various papers from Daler-Rowney, from Japan: Sirius watercolour paper, paper from croquis sketchbooks from the Maruman company, handmade Gasenshi paper, Toshikazu Mizzota’s handmade washi paper, handmade paper by Shana made from the bark of a mulberry tree.
