Abstract / Summary

This chapter is an attempt to situate the body in the context of performance, while accounting for the potential of its disappearance. While it does not explicitly seek to foreground the body of the performer, nor does it frame its enquiries from a consideration of the body of the audience. Rather than see these two positions as binaries, or even as co-present in one action, this writing attempts to understand them as the same thing. In performance, there is only the body.
