Abstract / Summary

This study explores tourists’ perceptions of crime-safety while participating in a Jack the Ripper guided walking tour in Whitechapel, East London. It examines whether personal variables including gender, age, nationality and tour group size influence perceptions of safety. Data were collected through QR-code questionnaires made available through a tour booking office, producing 212 responses for analysis. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents felt safe while participating in the walking tour. The study highlights the importance of maintaining high safety standards and addressing the concerns of visitors who feel unsafe in order to support positive and secure visitor experiences.
