Abstract / Summary

The topic of this proposed paper for the iJade Conference 2016 is to present a brief overview of my current drawing research, described in pedagogic terms. Using the example of a particular project, the aim is to describe my approach as an example of interdisciplinary drawing research. In describing this research project, I will offer an account of how the main method – variational practice – functions as a method for research. In combination with serially developed drawing, variational practice allows the practitioner to query phenomena in empirical terms. Together they form a potential pedagogic strategy for conducting practice-led research.
