This is an example of four specially commissioned double page spreads that convey specific biological and morphological threads associated with the insect world. The innovative design, whilst simple in context is very complex in concept. It works by utilising 'see through' aspects of design by printing illustrations onto acetates that work as overlays. In this instance, the theme of camouflage and mimicry in insects is represented by a rainforest scene with insects hidden amongst the foliage. Upon turning the acetate, the creatures are fully exposed. Conceived, researched, illustrated, engineered and designed by Alan Male.
