Abstract / Summary

We now have access to more tools and technologies than at any other point in history and, if you believe the hype, ‘anyone’ can be a designer. However, beyond the software and increasing tendency towards visual pastiche, the central component of design – that of the creative ‘idea’ still remains elusive to many. In a world where change is the only constant, the need for designers who can move beyond themselves and continually re-invent the way they work has never been so important. This talk will look at some of the history, tools and methods either used or championed by staff at Falmouth University to celebrate the notion of ‘design process’ alongside that of ‘design artefact’.

This is my part of a combined lecture delivered with Ashley Rudolph & Dion Star.
