Essay contribution to the official exhibition catalogue for Jerwood/Photoworks Awards 2017 - Sam Laughlin, Alejandra Carles-Tolra, Lua Ribeira, a biennial research and development opportunity supporting three talented individuals working with photography to create new work. They offer a £5,000 bursary with access to a production fund and a pool of international mentors, plus a subsequent national touring group exhibition. The Awards are a collaboration between Jerwood Arts (previously known as Jerwood Charitable Foundation) and Photoworks, supported by Arts Council England.
