Abstract / Summary
A three-day event incorporating an art publishing fair at which local and invited artists, designers and publishers were invited to show book works, editions, posters, pamphlets, broadsheets, leaflets, newspapers, journals, zines, stickers and other publications. The event also included talks by invited speakers, readings, performances, workshops and interventions. Academic and research colleagues were invited from a number of institutions in the UK and abroad, including Royal Holloway University, Cambridge University, West Dean College, Aarhus University, Plymouth University, Goldsmiths University of London, University of the Arts London, Research Center for Material Culture Netherlands and from across Departments at Falmouth University. Local and other participating institutions and organisations included Artist Tea Towel Company, Atlantic Press, Banner Repeater, BLNT, BORE, Burning House Books, Cassiopeia, Compost & Height, Copy Press, Citizen Sense, Crooked Limb Press, Keiken, Krowji, O+M, Pineapple Falls Atelier, Sea Post Press, Side Room Publications, Stranger Collective, Thouzine, Urbanomic and Various Writings. Tate Collective St Ives contributed to the event (Tom, Sije, Rosie, Leanne, Amy, Rebecca, Lucy) with organisational help and direction from Elizabeth Howell. The event was hosted by Falmouth Art Gallery & Library with much help and support from Henrietta Boex and Glyn Winchester. It was funded by Cornwall Museums Partnership, Arts Council of England and Falmouth Art Gallery. Over three days, FOMO attracted around 1000 visitors.
