Abstract / Summary

This presentation explores UX discipline and practice, its educational challenges, and introduces an innovative pedagogical approach to the subject. Qualitative interviews with 10 UX designers identify and characterise key UX competencies. Building on the findings an argument is made for UX educators to develop learner's professional identities alongside knowledge and skills. A pedagogical tool is outlined that uses Threshold Concepts and student reflection to achieve identity development in graduates.
